Feleta L. Wilson, R.N., Ph.D., Chairperson
Dr. Wilson is an Associate Professor at Wayne State University (WSU) in the Department of Community, Family and Mental Health. Dr. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters of Public Health. She is active in the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators, American Nurses Association, Black Nurses Association, Midwest Nursing Research Society, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Wilson resides in a DCHC service area and brings her children and grandchildren to DCHC for care. Dr. Wilson previously served and held the position of Secretary. Dr. Wilson has been a member of the Board since 1996. She became Chairperson in August 2006.
Ronald W. Briggs, R.Ph., Vice-Chair
Mr. Briggs is the Pharmacist/Owner of Briggs Prescription Laboratory and has been a practicing pharmacist since 1969. Mr. Briggs is a long-time Detroit resident and is active in the Detroit Rotary Club, Michigan Pharmacist Association and the National Pharmacist Association. Mr. Briggs founded his business in the DCHC East Riverside service area and resides in the DCHC Martin Luther King service area. Mr. Briggs has been a member of the Board since April 2000.
Louise G. Guyton, Treasurer
Ms. Guyton is Vice President, Corporate CRA-Compliance Manager/Public Affairs for Comerica Bank. She has been with Comerica since 1968 working in the areas of compliance and auditing. Ms. Guyton is a life member of the NAACP, Officer of the Black Caucus Foundation, a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank/Detroit Branch, and a member of Detroit Community Development Funders Collaborative. Ms. Guyton received The Spirit of Detroit Award in 1998 and 2000, the YWCA Minority Achievers Award and was listed in the Detroit News as one of six (6) African American Women Executives at Comerica Bank that is helping to shape Detroit, as well as being recognized in 2000 by the Women in Network as one of Detroit’s 100 Most Influential African American Women. Ms. Guyton joined the Board in September 2003 and accepted the position of Treasurer in August 2006. She is also Chairperson of the Finance Committee.
Dennis Dilworth, Secretary
Mr. Dilworth has nearly 40 years of experience in management and real estate. Previously active in state and local government, Mr. Dilworth was instrumental in the establishment of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Prior to entering commercial real estate in 1990, Mr. Dilworth held several major health assignments over a period of 20 years including Wayne County Health Director, Deputy Director of Health and Community Services/Office of Wayne County Executive where he was instrumental in the organization of the Patient Care Management System (now County Health Choice). Mr. Dilworth resides in the DCHC service area. Mr. Dilworth was a member of the DCHC Board from 1992-95 and recently rejoined in May 2006 and accepted the position of Secretary in August 2006.
Dalia Garcia, Member At Large
Ms. Garcia has a background in organizational development and in training. She has managed operations in the areas of human relations, community relations and business development. Ms. Garcia was President of and managed the daily operations of a family owned business in the Hispanic community. Ms. Garcia joined the Board in February 2004.
Wayne W. Bradley, Sr., Ex-Officio
Mr. Bradley was appointed the President/CEO of DCHC on April
24, 2007. Mr. Bradley spent 27 years with The Wellness Plan,
a state licensed HMO predominately serving the public
sector, where he held numerous executive positions and was
very active in the area of Government and Community
Relations. He also has significant criminal justice and law
enforcement experience, including having served as a Detroit
Police Officer for seven (7) years. Mr. Bradley is involved
in a number of community and professional organizations
including the NAACP and the Detroit Urban League. Board
appointments include Chairman of the Detroit Area Agency on
Aging (DAAA); Board Member of the Greater Detroit Area
Health Council (GDAHC),
Chairman
of the Board, Northeast Guidance Center, and
Board of Governors for the Detroit Renaissance Club. Mr.
Bradley was a member of the DCHC Board from 1994-2006 before
being appointed Interim President/CEO in March 2006.
Sheila Edwards
Ms. Edwards has a significant background in the use of technology in organizational and human performance improvement and excels at recognizing and utilizing the skills of team members in the achievement of an organization’s goals and objectives. Ms. Edward has experience in all aspects of small business operations, sales and marketing, bid and proposal writing, contract negotiations and compliance and project management. Ms. Edwards joined the DCHC Board in February 2006.
Isa Hasan, R.Ph.
Mr. Hasan is the Project Coordinator for the Arab-American & Chaldean Council’s Community & Neighborhood Development Initiative (The Seven Mile Project) and works closely with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization, the merchants and stakeholders in the Seven Mile/John R area (Nolan Family Health Center service area). Mr. Hasan previously owned and operated a retail pharmacy. Mr. Hasan joined the DCHC Board in August 2006.
Oscar Paskal
Mr. Paskal is a long-time resident of the DCHC Kercheval service area and a United Auto Workers (UAW) DaimlerChrysler retiree. His many years spent working in the Detroit manufacturing industry and UAW has made him acutely aware of the many health care issues faced by members of the Detroit community. Mr. Paskal is one of DCHC’s founding members, has been a consumer for the past fifteen (15) years and is actively interested and involved in quality of care improvement and oversight at DCHC. Mr. Paskal credits DCHC quality healthcare with enabling him to live a full, active and healthy retirement. Mr. Paskal previously held the position of Member-at-Large and is presently Chairperson of the Nominating Committee.
Sophie J. Womack, MD, MBA, FAAP
Dr. Womack is Vice-President of Medical Affairs for Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women’s Hospital, she is the first woman to hold this position in the Detroit Medical Center (DMC). Dr. Womack is also an Associate Professor at Wayne State University in Pediatrics. In May 2006, she became the first African American woman to be elected President-Elect of the Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan. Dr. Womack has received numerous awards for community service. Along with her husband, Rev. Dr. Jimmy Womack, she formed The Coalition, Inc – Circle of Hope, an organization that promotes childhood health and well being. Dr. Womack joined the DCHC Board in September 2006
