Share in Our Commitment…
By Wayne W. Bradley, Sr., President/CEO
Detroit Community Health Connection
On Friday, October 14th, our staff, friends, supporters and patients will gather at our Annual Red Carpet
event to celebrate Detroit Community Health Connections' commitment to our community. Our
theme "Committed to the Collaborative, the Community and You" says it all. For more than 23 years, we
have forged and maintained partnerships with and within the community to ensure we reach or exceed
our goal of making and keeping our patients and friends informed and healthy.
We also use this annual gathering to recognize others who not only share in our commitment, but who
are working in their own right to make sure our community and residents are the best they can be. This
year, we are honoring Sheila Clay of the Neighborhood Service Organization, Horatio Williams of the
HW Foundation, Penny Bailer of City Year, Catherine Kelly and The Michigan Citizen and Charlie LEDuff
for FOX 2. These are a few of the many people who work tireless to increase awareness of issues and
resources to make our community safe, healthy and happy.
We will also announce the renaming of two of our centers to honor the work of Dr. Feleta L. Wilson, and
the memory of Dr. Sophie J. Womack. These ladies are giants in the medical community, our community
and at DCHC for their commitment, and the lives touched by their care.
With six health centers in the city of Detroit, our partnership with the Detroit Department of Health
& Wellness Promotion is a key to reaching and supporting Detroit residents. We are honored to have
Loretta Davis, the Director of that Department join us and deliver a keynote address.
After we remember, honor and celebrate, we’ll gather in the Rotunda of the Charles H. Wright Museum
of African American History to share a strolling dinner and the sounds of Detroiter Chiara Clayton.
Our event is truly one of celebration for those who are on "Team DCHC." And, as our main fundraiser of
the year, it is open to everyone who wants to learn more about DCHC, our partners and partnership, as
well as share in our progress.
We remain committed to providing quality healthcare and dental services to everyone, regardless of
their social or economic circumstances. We service the insured, the underinsured and the uninsured
with the same high-quality level of service and respect that everyone wants and deserves.
