Officers:


Feleta L. Wilson, R.N., PhD. Chairperson: Dr. Wilson is an associate professor at Wayne State University (WSU) in the Department of Community, Family and Mental Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Masters of Public Health.  Her professional associations include the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators, American Nurses Association, Black Nurses Association, Midwest Nursing Research Society, the National Association of Community Heath Centers (NACHC) and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Wilson is also a client of DCHC, and works in the Woodward DCHC service area. She also brings her children and grandchildren to DCHC for care. She previously served and held the position of Secretary, and has been a member of the DCHC Board since 1996. She was named Chairperson in August 2006.

 

Ronald W. Briggs, R.Ph., Vice-Chair: Mr. Briggs is the Pharmacist/Owner of Briggs Prescription Laboratory in Detroit, and has been a practicing pharmacist since 1969. Mr. Briggs is a long-time Detroit resident and is active in the Detroit Rotary Club, Michigan Pharmacist Association and the National Pharmacist Association. He founded his business in the DCHC Riverside service area, resides in the DCHC Martin Luther King service area and has been a member of the Board since April 2000.

 

Louise G. Guyton, Treasurer: Ms. Guyton is Vice President, Corporate CRA-Compliance Manager/Public Affairs for Comerica Bank. She has been with Comerica since 1968 working in areas of compliance and auditing. Ms. Guyton is a life-member of the NAACP, Officer of the Black Caucus Foundation, a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank/Detroit Branch, and a member of the Detroit Community Development Funders Collaborative. She received The Spirit of Detroit Award in 1998 and 2000, the YWCA Minority Achievers Award, was recognized by The Detroit News as one of six (6) African-American Women Executives at Comerica helping to shape Detroit, and named one of Detroit’s 100 Most Influential Women for the Women’s Informal Network in 2000. Ms. Guyton joined the Board in September 2003, and accepted the position of Treasurer in August 2006. She is also Chairperson of the Finance Committee.

 

Dennis Dilworth, Secretary:  Mr. Dilworth has nearly 40 years of experience in management and real estate. Previously active in state and local government, Mr. Dilworth was instrumental in the establishment of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Prior to entering commercial real estate industry in 1990, he held several major health assignments over a period of 20 years including Wayne County Health Director, and Deputy Director of Health and Community Services in the Office of Wayne County Executive where he was instrumental in the organization of Patient Care Management System (now County Health Choice). Mr. Dilworth resides in the Eastside DCHC service area, and was a member of the DCHC Board from 1992-95. He rejoined the Board in May 2006, and accepted the position of Secretary on August 2006.

 

Dalia Garcia, Member-at-Large: Ms. Garcia has a background in organizational development and training, and has managed operations in the areas of human relations, community relations and business development. She was President of and managed the daily operations of a family-owned business within the Hispanic Community. Presently, she serves as an adjunct professor at Macomb Community College. Ms Garcia joined the Board in February 2004.

 

Wayne W. Bradley, Sr., Ex-Officio: Mr. Bradley was appointed President/CEO of DCHC in April 2007. He previously served 27years with The Wellness Plan, a state licensed HMO predominantly serving the public sector, where he held numerous executive-level positions and was very active in the areas of Government and Community Relations. He has significant criminal justice and law enforcement experience, including having served as a Detroit Police Officer for seven (7) years. Mr. Bradley is involved in a number of community and professional organizations, including the NAACP and the Detroit Urban League. Board appointments include Chairman of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), the Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC), Chairman of the Board for Northeast Guidance Center, and Board of Governors for the Detroit Renaissance Club. Mr. Bradley was a member of the DCHC Board from 1994-2006 before being appointed Interim President/CEO in March 2006.

BOARD MEMBERS: 

Paul E. Bridgewater: Mr. Bridgewater is the President & CEO of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), where he has served in that position since 1986. Numerous local, regional and national associations and entities have recognized him for his commitment to the health and wellbeing of seniors. He joined the DCHC Board in 2007, adding it to a long list of professional board and organization commitments including the Governor appointed role on the Michigan Quality Community Care Council, the Michigan AARP Executive Council, and the National Council on Aging.

 

Sheila Edwards: Ms. Edwards has a significant background in the use of technology in organizational and human performance improvement, and excels at recognizing and utilizing the skills of team members in the achievement of organizational goals and objectives. She also has experience in all aspects of small business operations, sales and marketing, bid and proposal writing, contract negotiations and compliance, and project management. Ms. Edwards joined the DCHC Board in February 2006.

 

Nanci Lynn Gibson: As the Executive Director of Youth on the Edge of Greatness, Nanci Lynn Gibson joined the DCHC Board in 2007 with a wealth of community awareness and experience. With more than 20 years of community health and social advocacy, she has worked to increase access to information and resources for and to the community to enhance their overall quality of life.

 

Isa Hasan, R.Ph: Mr. Hasan is the Project Coordinator for the Arab-American & Chaldean Council’s Community & Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (The Seven Mile Project) and works closely with the Mayor’s Office of Commercial Revitalization, the merchants and stakeholders in the Seven Mile/John R area (Nolan Family Health Center service area). He previously owned and operated a retail pharmacy, and joined the DCHC Board in August 2006.

 

Robert K. Johnson: Mr. Johnson brings another dimension of community consciousness and commitment to the DCHC Board. Having served in several capacities with community and groups and neighborhood initiatives, Mr. Johnson joined the DCHC Board in September of 2007.

 

Dr. Phyllis D. Meadows: Dr. Meadows currently serves as the Director and Public Health Officers for the City of Detroit’s Department of Health and Wellness Promotion. She has an extensive background in nursing, and community and public health. She returned to the DCHC Board in 2007 after previously serving from 1989-1995. She continues to serve on several professional boards including the Detroit Medical Center, WSU School of Nursing, Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, Hope Academy, National Kidney Foundation and the Karmanos Center Institute among others.

 

 

Oscar Paskal: Mr. Paskal is along-time resident of the DCHC Kercheval service area and a United Auto Workers (UAW) DaimlerChrysler retiree. His many years spent working in the Detroit manufacturing industry and UAW made him acutely aware of many health care issues faced by members of the Detroit community. Mr. Paskal is one of DCHC’s founding members, has been a DCHC client for the past nineteen (19) years and remains actively interested and involved in quality care improvement and oversight at DCHC. He credits DCHC quality healthcare team with enabling him to enjoy a full, active and health retirement. Mr. Paskal previously held the position of Member-at-Large and is presently Chairperson of the Nominating Committee.

 

Dr. George H. Shade Jr: Dr. Shade is a native Detroiter who currently serves as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Sinai-Grace Hospital. Dr. Shade received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Medical Degree, both with distinction, from Wayne State University. He has been a practitioner of Obstetric and Gynecological medicine for more than 30 years, and has been recognized by numerous professional, community, social and media organizations for his dedication and professional achievements. He joined the DCHC Board in 2008, and will chair the Medical Affairs Committee.
